AAA Grade Perfect for Ceremonial Use

This triple-A grade organic Macha is a special single-origin tea cultivated from three small tea gardens in Kagoshima prefecture, Japan. Known for its limited yields during the plucking season, this garden is nestled on the southern island of Kyushu. Kagoshima is conveniently situated next to the Bay of Kagoshima, with flat plains that make planting a breeze. The region enjoys mild, warm, and humid climates, enhanced by seabreezes from the Bay of Kagoshima and the East China Sea, along with plenty of rainfall. This combination supports a longer harvest season, positioning Kagoshima as the second-highest tea-producing region in Japan. Adding to its unique terroir, Mount Sakurajima, an active volcano in Kagoshima Bay, enriches the soil with minerals. This results in green tea with a mellow, smooth, and sweet flavour, free from astringency.

    Brewing Guide

    BREWING METHOD GUIDE:

    Usu-Cha (Thin Tea) Method

    - Use 2 matcha scoops of matcha.
    - Sift the matcha into your matcha bowl.
    - Gradually pour 70ml to 80ml of hot water at 75°C into the matcha bowl.
    - With a chasen (bamboo whisk), whisk the matcha in a back-and-forth motion, forming a tight W-shape with your wrist, until a smooth, creamy foam is achieved.
    - Pair with small snacks or traditional Japanese tea treats.

    Koi-Cha (Thick Tea) Method

    - Use 3 to 4 matcha scoops of matcha.
    - Sift the matcha into your matcha bowl.
    - Slowly pour 40ml of hot water at 75°C into the matcha bowl.
    - With a chasen (bamboo whisk), mix the matcha in a wide and gentle circular motion to create a thick and smooth texture.
    - Pair with small snacks or traditional Japanese tea treats.

Note: After consuming Koi-Cha, there may be some remaining in the bowl. Adding water to this can transform it into a thinner Usu-Cha when whisked.
